GUANGZHOU (Science and Technology Daily) ——In the context of a new round of global scientific and industrial revolution, what is industrial internet innovation's development direction? How to use the industrial Internet to promote all-round, multi-field and deep-seated integrated development of manufacturing and services and help optimize and upgrade China's trade structure in service? What is the experience and effect of industrial Internet application in the actual production and operation of enterprises?

On the morning of November 27, the World 5G Convention·5G and Industrial Internet Forum was held in Guang Zhou. The forum's theme is "The Multiplier Effect of 5G and the Integrated Development of industrial Internet". Many experts from related industries and research fields attended the meeting.

Wu Hequan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Director General of this forum, expressed that the industrial Internet is the starting point for realizing the industry's digitization, networking, and intellectual development.

Wang Zhiqin, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), took a similar view. In her opinion, the integration and innovation of 5G and the industrial Internet can build a new industrial development pattern. The digitization, networking and intelligent transformation of the industry has become a global consensus, and so far, Japan, United States, Korea, as well as many countries in ASEAN and Europe have successively issued 5G and industrial Internet development strategies.

What problem can the "5G+Industrail Internet" solve, and how will it solve the problem?

Although Guang Dong is an industrial manufacturing province, many enterprises are facing the loss of labor, cost increase, product homogeneity, profit margin reduction, IT personnel shortage and other problems. So here comes the question: How will enterprises accomplish intelligent upgrading?

Zhang Shunmao, CTO SVP of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.,Vice Chairman of Alliance of Industrial Internet (AII), summarized the reference architecture for industrial intelligent upgrading, which mainly includes four parts: intelligent interaction, intelligent connection, intelligent hub and intelligent application. He pointed out based on the reference frame, 5G can solve problems on four aspects: the first is positioning, which, to be specific, is the positioning, planning and coordination of production factors including humans, machines, materials and tools, etc.; the second is "cutting off pigtails" of equipment, cables need to be connected to many types of equipment, which, originally, could be as long as hundreds of kilometers, after 5G is applied, those "pigtails" can be cut off, so that the equipment can flow freely, together with a greatly enhanced production flexibility and equipment utilization rate; the third is AI edge detection, previously, the hash rate of AI was basically at the data center of a factory, and now, with 5G, AI can be submerged to the edge of the factory; the fourth is intelligent logistics. In addition, 5G will also have a bright future in the aspect of the intelligent patrol.

Li Junqin, Chairman of Foxconn Industrial Internet Co., Ltd. said that intelligent manufacturing means realizing connectivity among product design, equipment manufacturing and even manufacturing process, through which the manufacturing process can be perceived, predicted and controlled, finally realizing a "worry-free" production. Industrial Internet is to realize connectivity throughout the whole product design and manufacturing process, including upstream and downstream supply chains and even the final product demand side, realizing optimal configuration of manufacturing resources through the connectivity of supply chains and even customization in the end, or in other words, a truly optimal configuration of manufacturing resources.

Andreas Mueller, General Chair of 5G-ACIAHead of Communication and Network Technology, Bosch Corporate Research, indicated that factories with the help of 5G would be more flexible, more efficient, more productive, and they will bring us a better user experience.

Since the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Implementation Plan of "5G+ Industrial Internet" 512 Project in November 2019, the integrated development of the two has released a multiplier effect, further deepened the in-depth integration of industrialization and informatization, and strongly supported the high-quality development of the real economy.

Exploration of "5G+industrial Internet" in our country is being accelerated, which has already been effectively applied to multiple scenes including aeronautical manufacturing, energy & power, intelligent port and diggings, etc. 5G and industrial Internet are respectively related to or representing the digital economic foundation and substantial economic upgrade. Making good use of 5G and industrial Internet accelerates the construction process of digital China, manufacturing power, and cyber power and creates new opportunities and injects energy to the high-quality development of economy and society.

Wang Jifeng, the Chief Engineer of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd.; Wang Yangmin, Deputy Chief Engineer of CICT; Gao Kunlun, Vice President of Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute; Liang Baojun Deputy General Manager of China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd., Vice Chairman of Alliance of Industrial Internet (AII); Xu Hao, Head of Qualcomm Research China; Guo Xiaolong, Deputy general manager of Baosteel Zhanjiang iron and Steel Co., Ltd., have also attended the forum.
