Young sci-tech talent will get more support, according to an initiative released by the China Association for Science and Technology in conjunction with seven other departments.

As part of programs to celebrate the sixth National Science and Technology Workers' Day, the initiative calls for a joint action across all fields to support the all-round development of young sci-tech workers.

The initiative puts forward a series of concrete measures to support them in both work and life needs.

Aiming to better serve them, an online home for sci-tech workers, an information platform for sci-tech talent, and a one-stop service platform for them will be built, said the initiative.

More opportunities will be provided to young sci-tech workers in talent programs, R&D programs, sci-tech foundations, and sci-tech prizes.

An innovation ecology more favorable to young researchers will be created, said the initiative, calling for establishing an innovation value, capability, contribution-oriented talent evaluation approach.

Stronger incentives will be given to the transfer and commercialization of their sci-tech achievements.

The initiative also urges young sci-tech workers to actively integrate into global innovation networks and take part in global sci-tech governance.

More support will be given to young sci-tech workers to join in the international sci-tech organizations and play greater roles in international sci-tech communication.

In recent years, the number of China's sci-tech workers has registered rapid growth, with more and more young sci-tech workers becoming the driving force behind R&D, according to China Science and Technology Talent Development Report (2020).
